63% of Bishkek population have COVID-19 antibodies
AKIPRESS.COM - 63% of population in Bishkek have COVID-19 antibodies. Surge in coronavirus cases in the capital is a natural process, Head of the National Viral Infections Control Research Center Zuridin Nurmatov said.
"According to findings of seroprevalence study in August 2020, some 30.1% of country population had antibodies. We had a big difference between the regions. Only 13% of population in Batken region had antibodies. Hence, they had many coronavirus cases in October-November 2020," Zuridin Nurmatov stated.
Antibodies can't disappear, he added. "People just invented that antibodies may disappear. Though such studies were not conducted yet globally. If a person contracted infection naturally, antibodies will remain whole life. They will grow if a person encounters with virus," he said.
Third coronavirus wave to be easier - virologist
AKIPRESS.COM - The third coronavirus wave will be milder, virologist Zuridin Nurmatov said.
The situation was severe in July 2020. The fatality rate dropped by the second coronavirus wave in October. This wave will be easier, he added.
"It will be easier, since many people have antibodies," Zuridin Nurmatov explained.
