THA Secretary of the Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development Tracy Davidson-Celestine has said contract nurses, who are clamouring for benefits and allowances on par with their permanent counterparts, will be the first to be considered for positions at the new Roxborough Hospital.
The facility, built at a cost of $98 million, was handed over to the THA Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development two weeks ago. Primary care services began on May 3 and full hospital services will commence at a later date.

Tobago has recorded its third covid19 death – the first in eight months.
The THA Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development on Monday said the patient, a 62-year-old woman with co-morbidities, died on Sunday. No other information was provided on the deceased.
Newsday understands the woman was admitted to Scarborough General Hospital at the end of April, after complaining of feeling unwell, and was being treated at the Intensive Care Unit.
Health Secretary Tracy Davidson-Celestine on Monday said she was saddened by the loss.
“No one should have to die due to this virus, she said. The staff did all they could, and our hearts go out to the family and loved ones. We will do our best to offer further emotional support at this time.”

The Progressive Democratic Patriots (PDP) intends to continue lobbying for the defining of Tobago’s maritime boundaries and the island’s control over its waters.
At a virtual news conference on Thursday, Augustine said that his team will put its position in writing to the Joint Select Committee, which has been seeking feedback on the draft Tobago Self-Government Bill 2020 and the Tobago Island Administration Bill 2021.
He recalled that on Wednesday, the PDP hosted its own consultation on the bill and approximately 200 people participated via Zoom and Facebook links.
