Forrest departs on international hunt for green energy assets

Fortescue Metals Group chairman Andrew Forrest has left Australia to continue his international hunt for green energy assets.
It is unclear how long Dr Forrest will be on the road or what countries he will visit.

Fortescue declined to answer questions about his latest trip aimed at securing green energy assets for wholly owned subsidiary Fortescue Future Industries, including on the size of the travelling party.
Sources close to Dr Forrest ruled out a visit to China despite Fortescue issuing a statement on Wednesday in support of the Boao Forum for Asia on the island of Hainan.

Indonesia is in talks with China s Tsingshan Holding Group and Australia s Fortescue Metals Group (FMG.AX) to build a new industrial estate for metal smelting near a planned hydropower plant on Borneo island, a minister said on Tuesday.
The new estate will be located near the 11,000 megawatt Kayan hydropower project in North Kalimantan province, according to Luhut Pandjaitan, Indonesia s coordinating minister for maritime affairs and investment, who also oversees mining regulations.
Iron ore leader Fortescue pushing green hydrogen, ammonia and electricity projects
Australia-based Fortescue Metals Group, one of the world’s largest producers of iron ore, recently revised its emissions reduction goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 10 years earlier than its previous target. Fortescue Future Industries (FFI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fortescue, will be a key enabler of this target through the development of green electricity, green hydrogen and green ammonia projects in Australia.
