Cape And Vineyard Electric Cooperative Plans To Bring Solar To Falmouth Schools

During its sixth round of solar projects the Cape and Vineyard Electrical Cooperative wants to bring solar power to the Falmouth Public Schools. CVEC executive director Liz Argo is working with energy committee chairwoman Megan Amsler and Rosemary Dreger-Carey, the CVEC representative for Falmouth, to discuss rooftop and parking lot solar canopy options with the school committee. “I have met with Mr. [R. Patrick] Murphy at least three or four times, trying to get something going,” Ms. Argo told the select board at its meeting on January 11. “Hopefully, this time we will connect with the ball.” Board member Samuel H. Patterson agreed there is an opportunity for green energy at the public schools.

A new grant program aims to help small businesses survive the winter

FALMOUTH Much-needed relief for local businesses is on its way to help them survive the winter.  The Falmouth Economic Development and Industrial Corporation is getting ready to roll out the town s new small-business grant program.   After the pandemic hit in the spring, the corporation began working to provide assistance for struggling small businesses. The town has been awarded a $320,000 grant from the state Department of Housing and Community Development, $160,000 of which will go to the small-business grant program administered by the EDIC. The rest will be used for social programs, such as rental assistance provided through the Falmouth Service Center.
