Fiesta Flambeau Parade 2019
SAN ANTONIO – Nearly a year after the coronavirus pandemic began to upend the lives of people everywhere, event organizers are grappling with the choice to cancel or postpone events for the second year in a row.
Recently, Fiesta San Antonio officials decided to push the two-week party from April to June due to ongoing COVID-19 safety concerns. This is after Fiesta was scrapped altogether in 2020.
Some of the biggest Fiesta traditions, like the Battle of Flowers Parade, Fiesta Flambeau Parade and Oyster Bake, however, will not return at all this year.

The annual event centers on the no-frills comfort food San Antonians know and love. Social media accounts for the event announced the cancellation on Tuesday. Last year s installment was also canceled. A date had not been set for 2021, but the festival is typically hosted in November, making this week s decision one of the earliest yet.

SAN ANTONIO – The coronavirus pandemic has forced the cancellation of another beloved Fiesta San Antonio event.
The King William Fair will not take place at all in 2021 due to safety concerns over COVID-19, organizers announced on Tuesday.
The announcement came a day after Fiesta San Antonio officials confirmed other Fiesta 2021 events are being postponed until June.
The Battle of Flowers and Fiesta Flambeau parades, however, will be canceled entirely this year. The Fiesta Oyster Bake was also canceled.
Organizers of the quirky King William Fair, which has been an official Fiesta San Antonio event since 1968, said they hope the event can return on April 9, 2022.

Fiesta San Antonio has been postponed for the 2021 installment due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Fiesta Commission confirmed the event would be moved to June 17-27 on the official website.
The event traditionally takes place each April. Officials decided on a similar postponement plan in 2020, pushing the party to the fall, but that also was eventually cancelled. Oyster Bake, St. Mary s University s headliner event for Fiesta San Antonio, has already decided to cancel the 2021 event.
The commission said the postponement decision was made after consulting with Metro Health and Dr. Martin Makary, a consultant for the organization.
