Tiffin man thrown from truck and dies in Ohio Turnpike crash

Updated: 2:12 PM EST December 16, 2020 FULTON COUNTY, OHIO, Ohio The Swanton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that claimed the life of a Tiffin man on the Ohio Turnpike in Fulton County on Wednesday morning.  The crash happened around 9:20 a.m. near milepost 24.6 in Franklin Township. According to the patrol, a 2001 Ford Ranger driven by 58-year-old Rouyn M. Alda of Temecula, California, was westbound on Interstate 80 when he lost control of his vehicle in inclement weather.  The vehicle struck a guardrail before entering the median and overturning. The passenger, 58-year-old James S. Botton of Tiffin, was ejected from the vehicle. Botton s injuries were fatal.

Pettisville board hears updates from interim superintendent

PETTISVILLE — Pettisville Local Board of Education on Monday, hearing updates from the interim superintendent. Ken Boyer, interim superintendent, presented a summary of the study by Garmann-Miller Architects on upgrading the classroom technology. The district now has a basis to make some plans on upgrading classrooms on outdated and technology that cannot be repaired. Concerning the superintendent search, there have been more 90 responses to the community survey and there have been a number of applicants for the superintendent position. Boyer noted the district has had nine positive cases of COVID-19 in students and five cases in staff members since the beginning of the school year. The virus crisis has been managed very efficiently by the district due to the cooperation and hard work by all staff. The intent is to continue with face-to-face education of students.
