A house fire in Fulton County has claimed the life of a Mammoth Spring woman.
Fulton County Sheriff Al Roork said in a press release Tuesday his department received a 911 call on April 1 reporting a house fire at a residence located at 215 Cochran Avenue in Mammoth Spring.
The caller, 28-year-old Amy Jordan Brown, said her house was on fire, and she could not get out.
When personnel from the Mammoth Spring Fire Department and law enforcement arrived, the house was heavily involved, and they could see Brown on the bathroom floor as they looked through a window.
Brown was pulled from the home, but was already deceased. An autopsy report indicated she died from smoke inhalation.
The Fulton County Quorum Court will meet for its regular monthly session Monday evening at 6.
Three items are listed on the agenda under new business – resolutions for the approval of federal CARES act funds for the Fulton County Hospital for equipment purchasing and improvements to the senior center, possible funding for road repairs from the freezing and thawing of winter precipitation and miscellaneous appropriations.
Five items of old business are on the agenda – a resolution regarding individual/states rights, specifically addressing the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, a status report on the Spring River bridge, a project update on the Boggy Point road project, state-aid road project, the appointment of a committee to update the county’s personnel policy and an update on the new courtroom project.
The Fulton County community is mourning the loss of former county judge and hospital CEO Charles Willett.
Areawide Media reports the longtime servant of Fulton County died March 5 after a lengthy hospital stay and battle with COVID-19.
The former county judge shortened his term to join Fulton County Hospital as its CEO. He served approximately eight years as county judge and five years as administrator of the local hospital.
During his time as judge, he led the county and the quorum court in securing $1.5 million to build the new jail. The discussion for a new jail began in 2009 with then sheriff Buck Foley.

The Fulton County Quorum Court will meet for its February meeting Wednesday at 6 with a fairly lengthy agenda.Two items are listed under new business, an ordinance for an emergency coronavirus leave policy and a second regarding the collection of district court fines.Seven items are listed under old business–a resolution regarding coronavirus grants and the appropriation of funds; the Spring River bridge project; the Boggy Point Road project; a state aid road project; a legislative audit committee report; a committee on personnel policy review; and a proposed plan of action on a courtroom project.
The meeting will be held in the Hickinbotham-Miller Building at the Fulton County Fairgrounds.
