BROADALBIN Two brothers were kayaking and fishing Saturday morning on the Great Sacandaga Lake when one of them flipped over into the water, prompting a rescue team to deploy, State Police said.
They were able to get themselves to Sand Island before rescuers arrived, troopers said.
The Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company responded to the call for rescue. They launched an all-terrain amphibious vehicle to Sand Island and set up a landing zone for a helicopter at the state s Broadalbin Boat Launch, according to the fire company’s Facebook page. The helicopter had to cancel due to low visibility, firefighters said in their post.
