Charleston County deputies are working to clear traffic near the vaccination clinic at the Hollywood library. Charleston County officials say they’ve just reached capacity and no one else can sign up for a vaccine at this site today. (AP) When the American Library Association recommended last March that all libraries in the United States close their doors to the public in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the national organization fully realized the gravity of its decision even as other businesses and nonprofits around the country were faced with the same difficult choice. “It is very difficult for us to put forward this recommendation,” the ALA Executive Board said on March 17, 2020. “Libraries pride themselves on being there during critical times for our communities. We are often the only institutions to remain open during times of crisis. Service and stewardship to our communities are core to our profession.”

(WCSC) - As the COVID-19 vaccination rollout continues across the state, school staff and others prepare to receive inoculations as part of those eligible for Phase 1B. Dorchester School District Two says they are holding an emergency E-Learning Day for certain grade levels to help teachers and school staff get their first dose of the vaccine. At Summerville High School, middle and high school teachers from across DD2 will receive their first dose of the Moderna vaccine from Fetter Health Care network.
