Several car crashes were reported in the D.C., Maryland and Virginia region due to icy road conditions and slick spots Tuesday morning.
Ice has been a huge issue on roads Tuesday morning, especially on flyovers and ramps, Virginia State Police (VSP) said.
As of 6 a.m., police have responded to crashes in the area of northbound Interstate 95 near Old Keene Mill. There was also a crash on the westbound Interstate 66 ramp to westbound Route 50.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) sent over salt trucks to treat the roads.

SPRINGFIELD, Va. - Multiple people are reportedly injured and vehicles are on fire after at the scene of an active gas leak in Springfield, according to police.
SPRINGFIELD, Va. - At least three people were injured and at least one vehicle caught fire at the scene of an active gas leak in Springfield, according to the authorities.
Their injuries are not life threatening, according to emergency officials.
Around 4:30 p.m., emergency officials said the fire had been extinguished.

On January 1-3, 2021, the Fairfax County Park Authority joined America’s state parks including Virginia State Parks to encourage everyone to start 2021 with a hike. In Fairfax County, it’s a great way to appreciate more than 450 miles of trails and to set the bar for a new year of fitness and outdoor activity. This year’s contests included special prize amounts of $70 to commemorate the Park Authority’s 70th anniversary. Nearly 200 hikers submitted photos as part of the First Hike Fairfax 2021 Photo Contest presented by the Fairfax County Park Authority and the Fairfax County Park Foundation.
