Fairfield County Business Collaborative for Education Equity Announces First Round of Funding
Norwalk, Connecticut, June 03, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) The founding members of the Fairfield County Business Collaborative for Education Equity Bank of America, First County Bank, Lapine Associates, Pitney Bowes, Synchrony, Tudor Foundation and Xerox today announced the group has distributed its first round of grant funding, totaling $300,000, to seven local nonprofit organizations: Bridgeport Prospers (United Way of Coastal Fairfield County), Carver Foundation of Norwalk, Children’s Learning Centers of Fairfield County, Norwalk Community College Foundation, Person-to-Person, Domus Kids, and Horizons Bridgeport.

The Handt family’s lives changed forever late last year.
Jennifer and Rick Handt’s 3-year-old son, Charlie, was diagnosed with a rare, debilitating and potentially fatal muscle condition: Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
It was then that the couple began their fight for Charlie’s future.
“We have learned to embrace every day … and that is so much easier with such a wonderful community supporting us and Charlie,” Jennifer Handt said. “Every single day we are doing something to help Charlie. We have a good life, and there is so much hope on the horizon.”

BRIDGEPORT A long-time advocate of civil justice has received this year’s Liberty Bell Award from the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association.
Preston C. Tisdale of Trumbull, a partner in the prominent city law firm Koskoff and Bieder, has represented minorities in the community for more than 40 years.
“Preston serves as a great example of someone who uses his skills and gifts to connect with and serve his local community. He is an inspiration to so many around him and leads the way,” said GBBA President Frank Bailey.
