LANCASTER - After a pursuit from Lancaster to just past the Licking County line, the Fairfield-Hocking-Athens Major Crimes Unit arrested two people with the help of local law enforcement agencies Wednesday afternoon.
In total, the MCU took five people into custody, none of which have been officially charged as of Wednesday evening.
MCU Commander Dennis Lowe said the event started after an investigation into drug trafficking at a residence located on the 1200 block of North Columbus Street in Lancaster.
On Wednesday morning, the Lancaster Police Department Strategic Response team was at that residence to serve a search warrant, Lowe said.

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office is asking for community assistance to help locate a man wanted for an outstanding warrant.
Officials say 49-year-old Tommy Gene Tolbert may be traveling with his wife Tara Gerber Tolbert.
The couple could be driving a black 2010 Ford Expedition with SC tag SKG371. The vehicle has an “only girls squat” decal on its back glass.
Anyone with information about Tommy or Tara’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office at 1-803-635-4141.

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– On October 21, 2020, the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to the Peay Ridge Community, along with the Fairfield County Coroner’s Office, where a hunter reported finding human remains. According to officials, DNA testing revealed that the body belonged to Kirk Anthony Hall, who had been reported missing from the same community on September 13, 2019.
Although the cause of death is unknown at this time, authorities say they believe that Hall died of natural causes.

GREAT FALLS, S.C. (AP) The remains found in South Carolina’s Fairfield County last year are those of a man reported missing in 2019, authorities confirmed Tuesday.
A hunter discovered human remains in the woods near Peay Ridge in October, the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office said.
A state forensics team was called in and used DNA to identify the remains as Kirk Hall, WIS-TV reported.
Hall was reported missing in September 2019. He had last been seen walking toward Peay Ridge Road.

Officials are still working to determine how Hall died, but they believe he died of natural causes, the sheriff’s office said.
