ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Phoebe Putney memorial Hospital will begin to vaccinate southwest Georgians who are 65 and older and area law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders next week as the state of Georgia expands the first phase of COVID-19 vaccinations.
So far, Phoebe has only been allowed to vaccinate healthcare workers, but the state is broadening categories of people who are eligible to receive the vaccine.

Host Krista Monk spoke with Phoebe Putney Health System President and CEO Scott Steiner. The two discussed what itâs been like for the hospital as it tries to prepare to receive a COVID-19 vaccine and offer shots to the community while also battling another surge in cases. While the prospect of a vaccine is a dash of hope, the community has to work together so it doesnât see the same number of cases it did earlier this year. So, how are Steiner and his staff handling all of this?
