ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Phoebeâs top official said Friday COVID-19 continues to spread in the Dougherty County community.
Phoebe Putney Health System CEO and President Scott Steiner said Fridayâs number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients âremain fairly low relative to their peaksâ but is â57% more than a week ago.â
âItâs too early to know if that means weâre in the early stages of another surge, but it is a clear indication that the virus continues to spread in our community,â Steiner said. âWeâre also concerned that a significant number of the patients showing up to our main emergency center with COVID-19 symptoms are critically ill.â
100 free 3-D mammograms offered by Phoebe The Phoebe Carlton Breast Center (Source: Phoebe Putney) By Dave Miller | April 29, 2021 at 2:54 PM EDT - Updated April 29 at 4:23 PM
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - During the month of May, in recognition of Mother’s Day and overall women’s health, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital will be offering 100 free 3-D mammogram screenings to women who are uninsured for their annual screening at the Carlton Breast Health Center.
The 3-D procedure and experience are nearly identical to a routine mammogram, except the tomosynthesis machine moves around the breast versus staying still with a regular mammogram. Multiple, low-dose images of the breast are taken at different angles, and the 3-D view of the breast tissue helps radiologists identify and describe individual breast structures without the confusion of overlapping tissue.
