Kingdom orders 5M more doses of Sinovac vaccines

Prime Minister Hun Sen has given his approval to place an order for an extra five million doses of Sinovac vaccines as part of a drive to acquire 26 million doses for the country’s 13 million people, according to Ministry of Health secretary of state York Sambath.
The approval comes as 500,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine touched down in Phnom Penh on the morning of May 11, with an additional 500,000 doses slated to arrive on May 16 and another one million on May 23, Sambath said.

PHNOM PENH, May 11 (Xinhua) A plane carrying a third batch of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine that Cambodia acquired from Chinese biopharmaceutical company arrived in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, on Tuesday. The vaccine s arrival today is another testament to the unbreakable iron-clad friendship between our two countries, Cambodia s Health Ministry secretary of state Yok Sambath told reporters while receiving the vaccine at the Phnom Penh International Airport. Sambath expressed her profound thanks to China for providing the vaccine to Cambodia timely, saying that both China s Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines are very safe and effective.

Ministry wants rapid antigen tests put into wider use nationwide

The Ministry of Health has suggested that all public hospitals use Rapid Antigen Tests for Covid-19 on general patients and while providing emergency services to ensure safe delivery of health care.
In a letter dated May 8, health minister Mam Bun Heng said the ministry had noted that Covid-19 is now widespread and all hospital directors should pay attention to implementing prevention measures to control infections while providing medical services to people in public hospitals. In order to increase the health service’s efficiency and ensure regularity in public hospitals, the ministry would like to recommend that all hospitals use rapid antigen tests for Covid-19 to isolate patients if necessary,” he stated.
Another 400,000 doses of the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine donated by China touched down at the Phnom Penh International Airport at 9.30pm on April 28. - Phnom Pemh Post/ANN PHNOM PENH, April 30 (Phnom Penh Post/ANN): Cambodia is now second only to Singapore for the number of vaccinations it has provided among the Asean countries according to Prime Minister Hun Sen, who noted this achievement in remarks made on April 28 after another 400,000 doses of the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines donated by China arrived in Cambodia.
Cambodia has now vaccinated 12.4 per cent of its population, which is second after Singapore at 37.48 per cent, among the 10 ASEAN member states.
