PHNOM PENH (The Phnom Penh Post/ANN): Cambodia is collaborating with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on an ongoing project to improve the logistics system in Cambodia in a bid to boost the efficiency of freight traffic through reduced cost of shipping and internationally competitive logistics.
Entitled Implementation of the project to better the logistics system of Cambodia (Phase 2) , the scheme was launched during a video conference meeting attended by JICA representative to Cambodia Kamei Haruko, government officials and other stakeholders on Monday (April 12).
Koy Sodany, secretary of state at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, said the meeting was aimed at gathering input and feedback from all stakeholders, with the goal of creating a database and information system to implement this project smoothly and efficiently.

PHNOM PENH (The Phnom Penh Post/ANN): The newly established Kep Provincial Court is set to begin its operations and proceedings in September of this year after King Norodom Sihamoni issued a royal decree to this effect.
According to the decree dated April 13, the court, comprising the prosecution of its own, can begin hearings case under its jurisdiction on Sept 24.
Previously, cases that happened in Kep was heard by the court in neighbouring Kampot province.
The decree states that all case files lodged to the Kampot Provincial Court prior to Sept 24 will remain under its jurisdiction.

PHNOM PENH (The Phnom Penh Post/ANN): The navy is searching for two marines who went missing when a speed boat transporting food had an electrical malfunction that caused an explosion, throwing the men into the water south of Sampoch Island in Preah Sihanouk province on Monday (April 5).
Four others were injured in the incident.
“We haven’t found them yet. Three military personnel suffered minor injuries and another sustained a serious injury, ” said Navy Commaner Tea Vinh.
The boat exploded at 13:30pm at the south of the island about 3km from Prek Chak beach in Ream commune in the province’s Prey Nop district.

PHNOM PENH (The Phnom Penh Post/ANN): An US$80 million domestic airport project in Mondulkiri province is shaping up to be a main driver for ecotourism development in Cambodia s northeast corridor.
Minister in charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) Mao Havannall on March 30 led a meeting with representatives of the developer, PowerChina International Group Ltd (PIG), to provide input on a recently-completed feasibility study report for the development of the airport and nearby industrial park.
Havannall called on PIG to keep the Ministry of Tourism’s vision of regional tourism and economic development in mind and to find new ways of enticing airlines to request landing rights at the project, suggesting new tourism products, new economic activities and investments.
