Stricter COVID-19 Restrictions Planned for Fukuoka
The national government announced it would implement the ‘mann-enn boushi to juten sochi’ strict COVID-19 control program to Fukuoka and four other prefectures between 2 and 31. The governor of Fukuoka, Seitaro Hattori, responded to the news and explained that a task force meeting would be held on Jul. 30. JR Kyushu announced its design plans for the upcoming Kamome
shinkansen train. The 396-passenger train features corporate colors of red and white on the outside and a cozy and beautiful atmosphere on the inside. Three reserved-seat cars present different Japanese motifs of

Over 400 Daily Infections in Fukuoka and Increase Amongst Young
The proportion of young people becoming infected with COVID-19 has been on the rise. According to Fukuoka Prefecture, 64% of cases in July involve people aged 30 and under. The percentage grew by some 10% compared to the preceding three months. The proportion of patients aged 64 and above remains at 6%, thanks to the regional vaccination program. On Jul. 28, Fukuoka Prefecture confirmed 405 new infections to the new coronavirus. In the past week, 59.1 % of the new cases had unknown transmission routes.

Fukuoka Prefecture and Toyota Test Fuel Cell Trucks
Fukuoka Prefecture announced a collaboration with Toyota Motor Corporation to test the effects of fuel-cell trucks in commercial use. Beginning on Aug. 1, four regional freight companies would take turns to run Toyota’s fuel-cell vehicles to access CO2 emission reductions. The project aims to support the development of fuel-cell freight trucks and bring the vehicles to market soon.
