A FORMER Barrow postmistress who ‘lost everything’ in the Post Office accounting scandal has renewed hope for compensation after an ‘appalling injustice’ was overturned. Thirty-nine former subpostmasters who were wrongly convicted of theft, fraud and false accounting because of the Post Office’s defective accounting system finally had their names cleared by the Court of Appeal yesterday. While never charged with a crime, Isabella Wall, 71, was among those caught up in the scandal after being accused of theft and fraud by her employer. She ran the former Bowness Road post office for more than two decades before being left jobless and bankrupt in 2017.
