The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) said on Thursday that a Fremont County School District student has won a statewide competition to name a new supercomputer which is being installed in Cheyenne. The winning supercomputer name will be announced during NCAR’s virtual classroom visit to Riverton Middle School scheduled for 11 am Monday, April 12. “The name is for the new system currently being installed at the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center (NWSC) in Cheyenne, Wyoming,” NCAR said. “It was selected out of more than 200 submissions from Wyoming K-12 students in a competition conducted in partnership with the Wyoming Department of Education and the Wyoming Governor’s Office.”

Boys & Girls Club of Central Wyoming plans to open Riverton location

(Riverton, WY) – After three years of preparations, assessments, a pandemic and more the Boys & Girls Club of Central Wyoming is planning to open a second location in Fremont County. With their focus on academic success, healthy lifestyles as well as good character and citizenship, BGCCW is excited to transform out-of-school time into engaging personal and academic development for our local youth. Advertisement With several key items coming together these past three years with the help of Fremont County School District #25 and ‘R’ Recreation – community assistance is now needed to make this happen, noted BGCCW Director of Operations Jessica Baxter. The BGCCW has 10 club sites currently, including Dubois. They are connected to the Boys & Girls Club of America, however, maintain autonomy to make the best decisions for Wyoming youth – especially when it comes to the Cowboy Ethics.
