Essay winners, guests, honorees celebrate annual Dr. King commemoration ❯ It was an unconventional commemoration to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., but the theme of love, perseverance and service shined throughout the YMCA of Greater Monmouth County’s first virtual event honoring the late civil rights leader. For 32 years, the Y has brought together community leaders, students and residents from across Monmouth County to remember King at the annual memorial service. This year, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, guests joined a live-streamed celebration on Jan. 15 from their homes and offices, according to a press release from the YMCA.

Freehold Township hires special officers to serve at local schools Freehold Township hires special officers to serve at local schools FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – Four Class III special law enforcement officers have been hired by the Township Committee to provide security at Freehold Township’s schools. During a meeting on Jan. 5, committee members appointed George Heitz, Joseph Lynch, William Rodriguez and Salvatore Siino as Class III officers on the recommendation of Police Chief George Baumann. The appointments run through Dec. 31. According to a resolution, the Class III officers are authorized to exercise full powers and duties similar to those of full-time police officers while providing security at Freehold Township’s schools during the hours the schools are normally in session or when the buildings are occupied by students or teachers.

He is opening his own academy, Militia Mixed Martial Arts and American Jiu-Jitsu, in East Ridge, Tenn., in January. Gallicchio started his career in grammar school as a wrestler for the Howell Predators and continued wrestling at Freehold Township High School. He graduated from Freehold Township in 2005. After high school, Gallicchio began his Pro career in Mixed Martial Arts. His professional career spans more than 12 years in three countries. He is an Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran, and was twice featured on “The Ultimate Fighter.”

On Jan. 1, 2021, he will open his own academy Militia Mixed Martial Arts and American Jiu-Jitsu in East Ridge for men, women and children in mixed martial arts, Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, No-Gi grappling, wrestling, boxing, kickboxing, kids MMA, women’s and kids Jiu-Jitsu, self defense, and fitness.  Mr. Gallicchio started his career in grammar school as a wrestler for the Howell Predators and continued wrestling at Freehold Township High School, from where he graduated in 2005. After high school, Mr. Gallicchio began his professional career in mixed martial arts.
