Two veteran officers earn promotions in Freehold Borough Police Department
FREEHOLD – Two veteran police officers who serve in the Freehold Borough Police Department have been promoted.
During the Borough Council’s May 3 meeting, Christopher Colaner was promoted to lieutenant and Nicholas Iozzi was promoted to sergeant. Each officer took the oath of office for his new position.
According to the police department, Colaner is a member of the Detective Bureau and Iozzi is a member of the Patrol Division.
Police Chief Craig Dispenza said he has known Colaner since Colaner joined the department.

FREEHOLD – Three officers who serve in the Freehold Borough Police Department and one citizen have been recognized for their efforts to help save a physically disabled man during a residential fire.
At the Borough Council’s May 3 meeting, citations were awarded to Sgt. Diego Flores, Patrolman Brian Ruegger and Patrolman Patrick Healey for saving a Vought Avenue resident from a house fire on March 9.
A citation was also awarded to Kamaal Cofer, a sanitation worker who reported the fire.
Lt. Richard Ciampa discussed the events of March 9, which began when police received a call from Cofer at 9:30 a.m. regarding a fire.
FREEHOLD - A 30-year-old Ocean Township man has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting in Freehold Borough on March 30, authorities said.
Joseph Lyons was charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder, one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, according to a news release from Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
The shooting happened at 8:02 p.m. when police were called for a report of shots fired at the Continental Apartment Complex, according to the news release.
Upon arrival, police found two men suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken to a local hospital and later released, police said.

An Ocean Township man has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that took place in Freehold Borough on the evening of March 30, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced on April 14.

and one count of second degree unlawful possession of weapon, according to a press release from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
