A U.S. Navy medic shot and critically injured two people at a business park in Frederick, Maryland, on Tuesday, authorities said. The shooter, a 38-year-old man, was later shot and killed at the U.S. Army base Fort Detrick.
The shooter went into a business at Riverside Tech Park, causing people inside to run to safety, Police Chief Jason Lando told reporters Tuesday. After that shooting, he said, the suspect drove about 10 minutes to Fort Detrick, where he was killed by military personnel.

A US NAVY medic shot and critically wounded two people at a Maryland business park, then fled to a nearby military base where he was shot and killed, police and navy officials said.
The gunman entered a business at the Riverside Tech Park, causing people inside to flee, but it was unclear if the shooting took place inside or outside, Frederick Police Chief Jason Lando said.

FREDERICK, Md. - A U.S. Navy medic, who authorities say shot and wounded two people at a Frederick, Maryland business park, was shot and killed at Ft. Detrick Tuesday morning during an incident that left the military installation and schools in area on lockdown for several hours.

The 38-year-old gunman allegedly shot two men around 8:20 a.m. at the Riverside Tech Park in the 8400 block of Progress Drive. The two victims, both men, were flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore where they remain in critical condition.

GOOD AFTERNOON, THIS STILL REMAINS A VERY ACTIVE CRIME SCENE THAT STARTED ON MY SIDE OF THE STREET AND CONTINUED ACROSS THE STREET STOP ACCORDING TO THE FREDERICK POLICE CHIEF COME OFFICERS GOT A CALL AROUND 8:20 A.M. FOR AN ACTIVE SHOOTER. IT UNFOLDED IN THE RIVERSIDE TECH PARK WHICH IS AN INDUSTRIAL PARK. UPON ARRIVAL AT THE SCENE, THEY FOUND TWO ADULT MALES HAD BEEN SHOT. BOTH MALES WERE IN CRITICAL CONDITION. THEY WERE FLOWN BY HELICOPTER TO BALTIMORE SHOCK TRAUMA. SHORTLY AFTER THAT, WE RECEIVED INFORMATION THE SHOOTER, A 38-YEAR-OLD MALE, TRAVELED TO THE FORT DIETRICH MILITARY BASE. AS OUR OFFICERS AND PARTNER AGENCIES BEGAN RESPONDING THERE, WE WERE GIVEN NOTICE THAT PERSONNEL ON THE BASE HAD SHOT THE SUSPECT AND HE WAS DOWN.
