FRAMINGHAM A Roslindale man wanted by police in connection with a December shooting is in custody after authorities arrested him Friday.
Police arrested Axel Mercado, 40, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, early Friday morning, Framingham police said in a release.
“We want to thank our partners, Massachusetts State Police VFAS (Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section) and the U.S. Marshals who worked tirelessly to capture Axel,” police said in the release.
Mercado was wanted in a Dec. 29 shooting at 2C Brackett Road.
Police went to the apartment and found a man lying in a pool of his own blood in the kitchen, suffering from a gunshot wound in this back. Police, at the time, said the shooting was not random.
Framingham group seeks to update outdated Veterans Memorial Park
FRAMINGHAM Veterans Memorial Park has its share of problems.
The park is in disrepair, doesn t meet the Americans with Disabilities Act standards and doesn t recognize veterans who have served since the Vietnam War.
A group of volunteers comprised mostly of city department heads, and led by the Framingham Police Union, is determined to renovate the park and honor those who have served during more recent times.
“It hasn’t been updated since Vietnam,” said police Lt. Robert Downing. “There will be updates and we will make it ADA compliant.”
The park, at the Musterfield at Concord Place housing complex next to Framingham District Court, was last renovated more than 30 years ago.
2 men facing charges after shooting in Margaritas restaurant
FRAMINGHAM, Massachusetts (WCVB) Two men are facing charges after a shooting Thursday night inside a Framingham restaurant, according to the MetroWest Daily News.
Police were called just after 9 p.m. to Margarita’s Mexican Restaurant on Route 30 after several people called 911 to report shots fired inside the restaurant.
One person suffered a wound to the scalp, the person is expected to be OK.
A witness described the vehicle in which the alleged shooter left. The vehicle was found nearby, and Patrick Riley, 30, of Framingham, and Cameron Dulmaine, 22, of Northbridge, were arrested, the newspaper reported.

One man narrowly avoided serious injury during a shooting inside a Framingham restaurant that left him with a graze wound to his head Thursday night, Framingham police said Friday.
The incident played out inside the Margaritaâs Mexican restaurant on Route 30 around 9 p.m. when a man entered and fired a single shot while an unknown number of customers were inside, said Framingham Police Deputy Chief Sean Riley.
The possible target of the gunfire - a 35-year-old man - suffered the graze wound and later went to a nearby hospital for treatment, Riley said. âHe was very lucky obviously,â Riley said.
