In a separate news release from the Floyd Co Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, May 7 at approximately 7 PM, undercover Deputies were conducting an investigation into the sale of illegal narcotics in the Tram community of Floyd Co when they were approached by a male subject later identified as Samuel Atkins. As Deputies were talking with Mr. Atkins, the departments K-9 “Lita” arrived at the location and alerted the Deputies to the presence of illegal narcotics inside Mr Atkins vehicle. Deputies searched the vehicle and found Crystal Meth, Heroin, Marijuana along with over $20,000 in cash.

According to a news release from the Floyd Co Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff John Hunt and Deputies make several arrests in the Tram community this weekend including one individual being a fugitive out of Ohio. Nathaniel Williams age 35 of Pikeville, Christina Kelly age 33 of Pikeville, Halee Collins age 32 of Pikeville have all been charged with 2 counts of Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree after Deputies discovered several baggies and loaded syringe needles containing Crystal meth and Heroin. They were also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Nathaniel Williams was also wanted as a fugitive out of Ohio on criminal charges and Halee Collins had outstanding warrants against her. The Floyd Co Sheriff’s Office released a statement yesterday (Sunday, May 2, 2021) that Deputies were actively searching for one individual who escaped jail custody around 3:30 PM Sunday while being treated at the ARH Highlands emergency room. Inmate, Jacob Estep was last seen on foot running from the Hospital back towards US 23. Floyd Co Sheriff John Hunt said at this time they had no reason to believe Estep was neither armed nor dangerous. Estep’s original charge was for “receiving stolen property and a couple of warrants for failure to appear in court.” Hunt said Estep is now being charged with second-degree escape. Anyone with information as to Jacob Estep’s whereabouts, to please call law enforcement.

A Floyd Co man was arrested Friday, after Deputies found meth during a traffic stop. According to the Floyd Co Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, April 23 Deputies were patrolling in the McDowell area of Floyd Co and stopped a car for a traffic violation. During the stop, the department’s K9 Lita alerted the Deputies to the presence of drugs in the car. When Deputies searched the car, they located more than 140 grams of meth along with other drug paraphernalia. Arrested was 50 year-old Jimmie Crace of Allen. He was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Floyd Co Jail.
