After hours of planning and lots of hard work, Jayden Spenner of Remsen completed his Eagle Scout project, a flag retirement box located by the VFW Hall in Remsen. Spenner is the eighteen-year-old son of Jeff and Lori Spenner of Remsen. He has three siblings, Olivia (13), Rylie (12), and Faith (10). His hobbies include hunting, archery, camping, boating, and scuba diving. He recently graduated from MMCRU High School on May 17, 2020. He currently works for CMG Construction and plans to attend WITCC for an associate s degree in police science.
Remsen Postmaster Helen Kuehl was given many congratulations and well wishes during her Retirement Party, which was held outside behind the Remsen Post Office from 2-4 p.m. on Thursday, June 25. Kuehl has had an impressive 38+ years career in the Postal Service. She stated, I have 37.5 years in the Postal Service, but with my sick leave, it adds up to 38+. LE MARS Plans for the next phase of the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine are being put into place by Floyd Valley Healthcare under guidance from the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH).
Phase 1B is set to begin Feb. 1 with a broader reach of those who will qualify for receiving the vaccine.
Any person age 75 or older will immediately qualify as well as specific subsets of the population under that age who are vulnerable to high risk of exposure or severity of the illness.
Included are: individuals with disabilities living in a home setting who are dependent on attendant care staff who were not covered in Phase 1A; correctional facility staff and individuals incarcerated; staff and individuals living in congregate settings including shelters, sober living homes, behavioral health treatment centers and detention centers, but excluding college dormitories; food, agricultural, distribution and manufacturing w

The vaccine is now being offered for several more groups of people,
those ages 75 and older, those with disabilities living at home and are dependent on care staff and correctional facility staff and individuals incarcerated are just a few of the groups eligible in this next phase at Floyd Valley Health Care.
Officials with Floyd Valley Healthcare said they re excited to continue with vaccinations. A lot of interest for it. It s just encouraging to know that there are people who are wanting it. And it just looks like the road hopefully back to living again, said Jodi Lennon, Community Health Nurse.

LE MARS Floyd Valley Healthcare expects to receive the planned allotment of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. As directed by the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), we anticipate moving from Tier 1A Frontline Healthcare workers caring for COVID patients to Tier 1A Frontline Workers in other healthcare settings in early January.
Appointments are required and can be made by calling 712-546-3646. Phones will answered Monday Fridays from 8 a.m. 4 p.m. Identification from an employer, such as a name badge or letter from the employer, will be required to assure those seeking a vaccination are in the current priority group.
