Volusia Deputies Team Up Rescue Elderly Woman From DeLand Retention Pond | NewsRadio WFLA

By John Conrad Mar 2, 2021 Deland, Fl.(Florida News Network)-On Saturday night in the DeLand area, deputies responded to reports of a car driven into a retention pond. The first deputy on scene, Nicholas Maletto, headed into the water and was soon joined by Deputy Patrick O Melia. Together, the deputies pulled the 73-year-old driver out of the sinking vehicle and brought her to shore. She s OK, and Deputy O Melia even grabbed her purse on the way out. Lakeland Teen Charged With Killing Charlie Roberts Also From Lakeland | NewsRadio WFLA

Roberts, also from Lakeland, was reported missing on Wednesday..his body found in the Green Swamp Wildlife Management Area in Sumter County. Deputies have charged David Anthony Garcia with 1st-degree murder. He was picked up in Pinellas County and agreed to surrender himself to officials in Bushnell. The sheriff says David Fritsch left two dogs locked in the master bedroom of a home in the Canaveral Groves area for two weeks without feeding them. Both dogs died. These poor animals were literally eating furniture and their own feces trying desperately to stay alive, and the guy did nothing to give them food, to give them water, to help them in any capacity.”
