Lima man jailed following drug-related search warrants

LIMA The Allen County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday released details about search warrants at three county residences that took place more than a week earlier.
According to the press release, on Feb. 9 officers with the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force, assisted by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, served narcotics-related search warrants at 4865 Dutch Hollow Road, 319 N. Jameson Ave. and 5179 Norfolk St. in Lima.
During the search of the residences, a semi-automatic handgun, suspected marijuana, suspected cocaine, suspected heroin, suspected fentanyl, suspected fentanyl pressed pills, suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and $5,787.00 U.S. currency were located and seized as evidence.
Wapakoneta man jailed for discharging weapon while intoxicated

WAPAKONETA A Wapakoneta man was taken into custody Tuesday after discharging a weapon while allegedly under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
According to a report from the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 3:24 a.m. Tuesday to the report of gunfire in the southeast area of Clay Township. A resident reported that a home security camera captured video of a neighbor coming onto his property and then leaving. A short time later, multiple gunshots could be heard from a nearby wooded area, according to the statement.
100 mph chase through Lima ends in St. Marys man’s arrest

LIMA A man who led authorities on an hour-long chase throughout the Lima area early Monday at speeds topping 100 mph is facing local charges in addition to existing warrants for his arrest from Shelby and Auglaize counties.
At approximately 2:36 a.m. Monday, an Allen County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to execute a traffic stop on a driver for failing to signal a turn. The vehicle’s operator, later identified as Jonathan Ray Owens, 26, of St. Marys, immediately accelerated the vehicle and led multiple officers on an approximately one-hour pursuit through the Lima area.

S.P.O.T. to help those with special needs
WAPAKONETA The Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office will be offering a new program free to the resident of Auglaize County called S.P.O.T. (Special Population Operations Team). The goal of our new program is to increase the effectiveness of communication and interaction with residents of all ages that may have special considerations in case of an emergency. Such considerations may include: Alzheimer’s, dementia, schizophrenia, PTSD, autism, ADHD, developmental disability, down syndrome, blindness, deafness, language barriers or differently-abled.
The initial sign-up step would be to contact our office to register your family member. A S.P.O.T. coordinator would provide you with a registration form and questionnaire. Once the information is completed, the information will be transferred into our dispatch system. This would allow for instant access to law enforcement and first responder
Auglaize sheriff: Special needs program begins
WAPAKONETA The Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office is implementing a new program to increase the communication and interaction with residents with special needs such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, schizophrenia, PTSD, autism, ADHD, developmental disability, Down syndrome, blindness, deafness or other physical or language barriers.
The free program open to residents of Auglaize County is called SPOT, for Special Population Operations Team.
The initial sign-up step requires residents to contact the sheriff’s office to register a family member. A SPOT coordinator will provide a registration form and questionnaire. Once the information is completed the information will be transferred into the office’s dispatch system, allowing instant access to law enforcement and first responders.
