ELKINS PARK The Cheltenham School Board appointed a temporary replacement during a virtual meeting ahead of Superintendent Wagner Marseilleâs departure, the school district announced in a statement.
The nine-member board selected Nancy Hacker, former Springfield Township School District superintendent, to fill the position on an interim basis. Her start date has not yet been announced, according to a school district spokesperson.
âWe are thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Hacker as interim superintendent as we search for our next superintendent. Dr. Hacker brings an enormous amount of experience, expertise and wisdom to this role, and we are grateful to her for her service,â said School Board President Joel I. Fishbein in a May 5 statement.

Anderson
Eugene R. “Gene” Anderson, 80, formerly of Altoona, passed away April 28, 2021, in Naples, Fla., after a recent illness. Gene was born in Stanton, Iowa, son of Ferne and Elmer Anderson.
He graduated from Stanton High School, Class of ’59 and joined the Navy in 1962, serving four years aboard several ships, including the USS Cole. His Navy friend, Jerry, set him up on a blind date with Paula Dawson, who was in nursing school with Jerry’s girlfriend (Sandy) at the time. Gene and Paula were married Aug. 19, 1967, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Altoona.
Gene earned his associate degree in May 1969 from Penn State Altoona and his bachelor of science in engineering from Widener University, West Chester, Pa.
