Shrimply Blue: Restoring Lake Tahoe s clarity one dog at a time | South Lake Tahoe

February 18, 2021 - 12:00pm How the new non-profit organization “Shrimply Blue” is inviting dogs and their human sidekicks to restore lake clarity one dog treat at a time is the topic of the next UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) Winter Science Speaks lecture on Thursday, February 18, at 12 noon. TERC has identified invasive Mysis as a key contributor to clarity decline. By removing the surprisingly nutritious Mysis and transforming them into premium dog treats, Shrimply Blue is creating a regenerative system for sustainable lake restoration. Millions of people visit Tahoe each year, and for the first time ever people and their dogs can restore lake clarity by simply taking a bite out of the problem. Shrimply Blue is setting their sites on restoring Emerald Bay in 2021, and scale up to the broader lake from there. Join them on their journey, eat some Mysis, and learn how you can help us spread the word.
