Chandigarh: As active Covid cases in the state surged to 11,942 lakhs, with daily positivity rate climbing to over 5%, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday urged the Centre to review its immunization strategy to vaccinate all age groups in selected areas, while announcing a stricter policy to deal with the problem.
The Chief Minister also called for occupation-based immunization for school and college students and teachers, judges, bus drivers and conductors, Panches/sarpanches, Mayors/Municipal Committee Presidents/Counsellors, MLAS, MPs etc. to pave the way for normalization of crucial activities and check super-spreaders. Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], March 13 (ANI): Punjab Social Security Women and Child Development Minister Aruna Chaudhary on Saturday instructed to close all Anganwari centres in the state due to resurgence of COVID-19.
She termed the decision as a safety measure for children and said that ration and other materials for children and other beneficiaries will continue to be distributed door to door through Anganwari workers and helpers so that nutritional support to the beneficiaries is not affected.
She also instructed the Anganwari workers to follow all health protocols such as wearing masks, washing hands, and maintaining social distancing.
