AN OIREACHTAS COMMITTEE has recommended that essential workers should be permitted to finish their driving lessons to enable them to sit a test.
The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications Networks has told Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan that a growing backlog of people waiting to take a driving test needs to be addressed.
In a letter, the committee has told the minister that essential workers should be allowed to complete their driving lessons.

An interim test driving centre for Drogheda is to be operational in February, the Road Safety Authority has confirmed.
In an answer to Fergus O Dowd TD, they stated, we have come to an agreement to the creation of an Interim Driving Test Centre in Drogheda at Drogheda Town Football Club, Marian Park.
There will be two Driver Testers in operation at the centre.
The indicative start date that we are planning towards is the 8th February 2021. We are starting to engage with Approved Driving Instructors and Test Candidates in the area to start the testing and scheduling process. We are working at present with the club officials to have the physical facility ready, they added.
