Marlborough Primary Health Organisation chief executive Beth Tester said Marlborough was more than ready to move into vaccinating the 60+ age bracket, even as they continued to reach those in Group 3 still without a vaccine. Group 4 was everyone else in the country, but was being done in age groups. Those aged 55 and over could get their vaccine from August 11.

Tester said the district had been able to surpass its vaccination target because it started early. The main concern at the moment was getting more Māori men vaccinated, but Tester said Māori women were tracking the same as the rest of the population.

Tongan vineyard worker Hiko Lynch, 23, died in the early hours of June 20 after an alleged stabbing on Market St.
A 34-year-old Auckland man jointly charged with murdering a seasonal worker in Blenheim has been denied bail. The man, who cannot be named, appeared in the High Court before Justice Francis Cooke on July 16. The man is accused of murder in relation to an alleged stabbing on Market St on June 20. He is also charged with wounding with intent to injure and failing to help detectives with a search.

Wilson said she entered the competition to meet more people in the industry and to see where her weaknesses were. “Machinery and irrigation have always been most challenging for me, but I have been getting better each year I do the competition,” the Whitehaven viticulturist said. “I worked really hard this year and improved so much. “After last year I really wanted to win it so for the last few months I ve been putting in a lot of work, training and studying.”
