FBR initiates reforms in tax collection

ISLAMABAD: In line with the vision of the prime minister as part of its reforms agenda, the Federal Board of Revenue has claimed of placing a lot of focus on initiating reforms in the tax collection agency.
In order to broaden the tax base, the FBR has gathered data from different utility agencies and other departments for having 360 degrees of taxpayers.
According to the FBR statement issued on Friday, in line with the vision of the prime minister as part of its reforms agenda, the FBR has placed a lot of focus on the facilitation of taxpayers, reducing human interaction, simplification of tax statutes and tax filing procedures through automation, integrity management, enforcement of tax code and policy measures to boost revenue and promote exports through increase in business activity, speedy payment of refunds and drawbacks and better service delivery.

The long-term priority programs includes the full automation of frontline transactions, improvement of risk management system, implementation of customs modernization program, ISO certification of customs offices and PGS compliance, enhancement of trade facilitation, rationalization of penalty regime, filling-up of vacant plantilla positions, enhancement of management and technical skills, enhancement of stakeholder engagement and intensification of border protection.
This set of programs is in line with the agency’s mission to strengthen the country’s border protection, enhance trade facilitation and improve revenue collection.
Under the full automation of frontline transactions, the Customs bureau has implemented the upgrade and stabilization project for the E2M system, online payment through PayMaya and online submission of documents through the Customer Care Portal System.
