Asante announced on Wednesday that it is now offering monoclonal antibody treatment for coronavirus patients following emergency use approval of the experimental treatments by the FDA. “The treatment can have a significant impact on the severity of symptoms people experience as well as help reduce the need for more intense hospital-related interventions,” said Lee Shapley, MD, administrator at Asante Ashland Community Hospital. “By treating people at the early onset of their COVID diagnosis, this therapy can help people recover faster with fewer lingering effects of the disease and keep more people out of the hospital.”

The Register-Guard Oregon reported 41 new COVID-19-related deaths Saturday, raising the state’s death toll to 1,799. The Oregon Health Authority also reported 1,173 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 132,412. Vaccinations in Oregon On Saturday, OHA reported that 16,117 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added to the state immunization registry. Of this total, 11,332 vaccine doses were administered on Jan. 15. Oregon now has administered a cumulative total of 189,190 first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccines. To date, 335,075 doses of vaccine have been delivered to sites across Oregon. COVID-19 hospitalizations The number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 across Oregon is 365, which is 22 fewer than Friday. There are 92 COVID-19 patients in intensive-care unit beds, which is five fewer than Friday.
