LAHORE: Punjab Police made foolproof security arrangements for the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections across the province Sunday. The IG monitored the situation and issued directions to all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs of the province before the elections. In a letter sent by IG Punjab to all the supervisory officers of the province, it was directed that Lahore CCPO, all RPOs,
CPOs and DPOs should visit the sensitive polling stations in their districts and ensure security. For the elections, 835 polling stations and 1585 polling booths were set up across the province for the security of which 15,306 officers and personnel performed their duties while 859 police vehicles remained on roads for election duty. LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz has out rightly refused to accept the results of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly polls as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) sweeps the elections.
Taking to Twitter, PML-N Vice-President said that her party fought hard but it is not easy to deal with fraud. I have not accepted the results and will not. I have not even acknowledged the results of this fake government. Congratulations to the workers and voters. What will be the course of action on this shameless fraud, the party will decide soon, God willing, Maryam tweeted.
AJK Legislative Assembly elections: counting of votes underway

After conclusion of polling process for the general elections of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly in a peaceful environment today (Sunday), the counting of votes continues.
The polling process began at 0800 hours and continued till 5:00 p.m in the evening without break.
More than three point two million registered voters were eligible to exercise their right to vote to elect their representatives for the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly’s next term.
AJK Election Commission had made all-out arrangements for free, fair, and transparent elections.
Over 40,000 security personnel including Pak Army, FC, Rangers and police were deployed in all constituencies of AJK to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for the polling process.
According to unofficial results, PPP-AJK candidate Amir Abdul Ghaffar Lone won the election by bagging 2,165 votes against Saleem Butt of rival Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-AJK who got 875 votes. Dawn/File
KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party-Azad Jammu and Kashmir (PPP-AJK) on Sunday night emerged victorious on an Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly seat, LA-40, reserved for refugees of occupied valley living in 24 districts of Sindh and Balochistan.
According to unofficial results, PPP-AJK candidate Amir Abdul Ghaffar Lone won the election by bagging 2,165 votes against Saleem Butt of rival Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-AJK who got 875 votes followed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Tahir Ali Wani (442).
Other candidates are Shabbir Ahmed Khan of the Pak Sarzameen Party-AJK (16 votes), Abdul Rehman Gasi of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (five), independent candidates Ghulam Muhammad (three) and Muhammad Bashir Khan (one).
