GUWAHATI: The Assam State Health and Family Welfare department in an order has directed all the police stations under the Kamrup (Metro) district to constitute a Police Station Level Quarantine Management Committee.
Further, the Commissioner of Police will nominate a senior police officer not below rank of Additional DCP for every police district in City Guwahati, who will closely monitor and supervise the functioning of the Police Station Level Quarantine Management Committee in close coordination with District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kamrup (Metro) and Health & FW Department.

GUWAHATI: With the constant rise in COVID-19 patients, the Assam Health Department has decided to increase the number of ambulance fleets available in the state.
Speaking to The Sentinel an official at the NHM, Assam stated that seat capacity of the Sarathi 104 and vehicles of Adoroni will be increased soon.
On the other hand, an official at the 108 ambulance service said, Currently in Assam 810 ambulances are available which includes 7 boats and out of which 220 vehicles are currently on COVID-19 duty.
Further, the official added that in the month of February 2020, the Health Department procured an additional 100 ambulances in the fleet of 108 services. However, around 150 ambulances are off-road due to maintenance issues.

GUWAHATI: The AASU (All Assam Students Union) is worried over the fresh spike in COVID-19 positive cases in the State vis-à-vis the future of students. The leadership of the students body feels that the fresh wave of the pandemic is bound to affect the students.
Talking to The Sentinel on Monday, AASU president Dipanka Kumar Nath said, Along with other stakeholders in the State, the students had to suffer a lot due to COVID-19 in 2020. Schools and colleges were closed for months together. Even as the State government tried to make up the loss through virtual classes, the plan didn t work out well.

Guwahati, April 13 : With the surge of Covid cases in the state, the Assam government on Tuesday issued modified Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for persons arriving in the state by air, making tests and quarantine compulsory, officials said.
Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Samir Kumar Sinha, who issued the modified SOP, said that all people arriving in Assam through any of its five airports, will have to mandatorily undergo the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) free of cost.
