Assam State Co-op Bank donates Rs 10 lakh
On the appeal of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam State Cooperative Apex Bank has donated Rs 10 lakh towards Assam Arogya Nidhi to support the government’s efforts in handling the pandemic.
The Cheque was given by the bank’s Chairman In-Charge Biswajit Phukan to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa last week at his office.
Later on sharing the news through social media, the official twitter handle of Chief Minister of Assam wrote, “Chairman i/c Assam Co-op Apex Bank @biswajitphukan today called on CM @himantabiswa and contributed Rs 10 lakh to CMRF on behalf of the bank. Thanking him for the generous donation, the CM asserted such contributions would augment the campaign against #Covid19.

The election of Assam State Cooperative Apex Bank (ACAB) scheduled for May 21 is passing through many ifs and buts in the wake of surging Covid 19 cases.
A section of the government is of the view that since there are over 2800 eligible voters and it may not be possible to observe the Covid protocols in the true spirit in the given situation, revealed a top official of the bank to the Indian Cooperative correspondent.
Meanwhile, the list of successful nominations announced last week, revealed that Chief Minister of the state Himanta Biswa Sarma (who is a candidate for a berth on the Board) may have to face voting on 21
