Guwahati: Uproarious scenes marked day one of the three-day Assam Assembly Session that began on Monday. The AIUDF created noisy scenes in the floor of the house after Speaker Jatin Goswami denied the demand from the AIUDF to discuss the withdrawal of the contentious farm bills.

The Assam Legislative Assembly witnessed tabling of the Assam Repealing Bill 2020 , a bill the BJP calls historic. This bill once passed and comes into force, will shut all the government-run Madrassas of the State.
Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday tabled the bill on the first day of the Winter Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly. The opposition Congress and AIUDF opposed tabling of the bill. The AIUDF MLAs also staged a walkout from the house.

GUWAHATI: BJP-led Assam government on the first day of winter session of the state legislative assembly on Monday introduced a repeal bill that proposes to convert all government-funded and private madrassas, which came into being since pre-Independence period, in the state into general schools of learning.
The Assam Repealing Bill, 2020 was introduced by education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma which proposes to make redundant the Assam Madrassas Education (Provincialisation) Act of 1955 and the Assam Madarassa Education (Provincialisation of Services of Employees and Re-Organization of Madrassa Education Institutions) Act of 2018.
According to the bill, there will “not be any change in the status, pay and allowances, service conditions etc of the teaching and non-teaching staff [presently working in the madrassas institutions including their seniority.” They will now be governed by the Assam Secondary Education (prov

The Assam government on Monday introduced a Bill in the 126-member Assembly to convert the State-run madrasas into general educational institutes from the next fiscal.
The Assam Repealing Bill, 2020 seeks to repeal the Assam Madrassa Education (Provincialization) Act, 1995 and the Assam Madrassa Education (Provincialization of Services of Employees and Re-Organisation of Madrassa Educational Institutions) Act, 2018.

Guwahati: The Assam government, on Monday, tabled a bill to abolish all state-run madrassas and convert those into general schools with effect from April 1, 2021.
Despite a united opposition raising objections against it, education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tabled The Assam Repealing Bill, 2020, on the first day of the three-day winter session of the assembly.
The bill proposes to abolish two existing acts â The Assam Madrassa Education (Provincialisation) Act, 1995, and The Assam Madrassa Education (Provincialisation of Services of Employees and Re-Organisation of Madrassa Educational Institutions) Act, 2018.
