The man arrested following an hours-long standoff with police in Clarkston earlier this week faces several charges related to the incident.
34-year-old Steven Eckhart was formally charged with 8 counts of second-degree assault with deadly weapon enhancements, unlawful possession of a firearm and reckless endangerment.
Eckhart reportedly fired a weapon in his residence on the 1100 block of 14th Street Wednesday evening after law enforcement arrived to check on the welfare of the child, who was supposed to be removed from the house and turned over to custody of his mother.
Authorities surrounded the residence and the Lewiston SWAT team, along with a social worker and Eckhart’s probation officer, were able to resolve the standoff peacefully after several hours and the child was unharmed.

A Clarkston man pled not guilty to second-degree murder and evidence tampering charges during his arraignment Monday morning.
Clarskton Police Chief Joel Hastings said John C. Weber was arrested for murder in the second degree March 7 after officers responded to a reported suicide attempt on 5th Street in Clarkston where Weber and his mother live. Weber’s mother, Jeanne Weber, called in the attempted suicide report.
Two responding officers found a woman, later identified as 50-year-old Kymberly Berreman, with a gunshot wound to her head, Hastings said. Berreman was transferred to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho. She was pronounced dead later that day.

A Clarkston man accused of second degree murder in the death of his girlfriend, has pleaded not guilty in Asotin County Superior Court.
54-year-old John Weber was arrested March 7th after a suicide was reported at his residence on the 1100 block of Fifth Street in Clarkston. 50-year-old Kym Berreman was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
According to court documents, Berreman had a gunshot wound to her head and was holding a pistol in her right hand when police and medics arrived. The Lewiston Tribune reports, the initial investigation and information from paramedics and hospital staff led officers to believe the bullet had entered Berreman’s left temple and exited the right side of her head.
