Azerbaijan s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an appeal on occasion of April 18 - International Day for Monuments and Historic Sites.
According to the statement, April 18 is celebrated as the International Day for Monuments and Sites. On this occasion, Azerbaijan repeats its grave concern regarding the destruction of its cultural heritage by Armenia in the Azerbaijani liberated territories. Almost all historical, cultural and religious monuments were completely destroyed during the period of occupation. As of today, the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan has identified more than 400 monuments that have been destroyed in the Azerbaijani liberated territories. The total number of the monuments in these territories is up to 3,000, the ministry stressed.

This was stated by Armenia’s MFA spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan in an interview to Armenpress.
“The non-constructive position and behavior of the Azerbaijani authorities threatens the full implementation of the trilateral statement. According to the international humanitarian right, Geneva conventions and trilateral statement on ceasefire, all the servicemen and the civilians captured during the war and after it must be returned without pre-conditions, in accordance with the principle “all for all,”” she said.
Naghdalyan stressed that Yerevan expects effective engagement of the international community and OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries.

March 31 is commemorated in Azerbaijan as the Day of Genocide, in which tens of thousands of civilians lost their lives in Baku, as well as many other regions, including Shamakhi, Guba, Lenkaran, Salyan, Iravan, Zangezur, Garabagh and Nakhchivan in 1918. According to the Azerbaijani version of the events, in late March 1918, with the support of Bolshevik leaders of the Baku Council, the armed formations of the Armenian nationalist “Dashnaktsutyun” Party, led by Stepan Shaumyan, carried out mass killings and pogroms of Azerbaijanis.
