The Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre has been cancelled for the second year running, West Suffolk Council has announced.
The event, which is usually held over four days, was cancelled in 2020 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.
The Reverend Canon Philip Banks, Precentor at the cathedral, said: “The cathedral is a versatile space at the heart of the community, serving the people of Bury St Edmunds and the county of Suffolk. We are delighted to work in partnership with CAMRA to welcome visitors from near and far to the beautiful setting of the cathedral for this unique new venture”.
Proceeds from the Beer & Cider Festival have, in the past, benefited many charities with over £100,000 donated.
This year, alongside the cathedral, other beneficiaries will include St Nicholas Hospice Care. Smaller local charities and worthwhile causes are also invited to apply for support.

A new police inspector for Bury St Edmunds has set out some of the challenges and opportunities of the job ahead.
Inspector Beeby, who already lives in the area, worked for the last four years as custody manager at the local police investigation centre.
He joined Suffolk Constabulary in 1998 and arrived in Bury St Edmunds as part of the armed policing team in 2003, before a spell as sergeant at Mildenhall seven years later.
Insp Beeby said many of today s policing priorities remain the same. Drugs are a problem that never goes away, he added.

Bury St Edmunds has always been a popular choice for house buyers and recent stats show that is only increasing with 1,000 house sales last year.
When the housing market in England reopened in May last year after the coronavirus pandemic, many thought it would crash but it did quite the opposite.
Statistics show that by October, mortgage approvals had hit a 13-year high and November saw 124,800 transactions completed, which was 18,000 more than the five-year average.
Specialist mortgage platform Haysto has analysed latest government data to see which towns saw the highest and lowest rate of property purchases in 2020 and which areas saw the biggest increase and decrease compared to 2019.
