Administrative and technical sanctions have been accorded to all 270 undertakings under the scheme
The city Corporation has finally hit 50% fund expenditure for projects being executed under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme. As on Saturday, the Corporation has spent 50.55% of a total of ₹357.50 crores allocated for the scheme, with some of the bigger projects under it awaiting commission.
After initial hiccups in getting the scheme started, the civic body maintained a steady pace for projects under the scheme. However, the last year and a half has been beset with delays due to a variety of reasons. Following the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, most of the projects came to a standstill, as some of the major projects depended on labourer

The execution of Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrut) projects, one of the flagship programmes of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, in various cities and towns in the State appears to be moving at a slow pace for various reasons.
As of April 13, only 48.96% of the funds have been spent in the State. That translates to 653 out of the 1,005 completed projects in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kochi, Thrissur, Guruvayur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Kannur in five sectors.

The fate of four large projects being implemented by the Kochi Corporation under the Union government-initiated Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrut) hangs in the balance.
The scheme was launched in 2015 and the administrative sanction for the projects was obtained in early 2018. Six years later, around 45% of the sanctioned amount of ₹272.063 crore has been utilised.

The city Corporation’s first multilevel parking lot located inside the Corporation office premises, near Palayam, will become functional as soon as approval is received from the electrical inspectorate, according to officials of the civic body.
The opening of the parking lot was further delayed after the inspectorate said that fire exit stairs needed to be added to the structure. The construction of the same has been ongoing.

Agreement yet to be inked with contractors for large canals Canal cleaning in the city to avoid waterlogging during the monsoon will pick up pace after the polls, according to Kochi Corporation authorities.
After having been hauled up by the High Court for stalling pre-monsoon canal cleaning in the city citing the model code of conduct, the Corporation will soon begin cleaning the large canals.
The tender process for drain cleaning in some divisions is complete and work has begun, while an agreement is yet to be inked with contractors for large canals such as the Thevara-Perandoor and Rameswaram-Kalvathy canals.
