There is one case to report
today in a managed isolation facility.
Two previously
reported cases have now recovered. The number of active
cases in New Zealand is 52.
A previously reported
case, from South Africa who arrived on 15 July, has now been
reclassified as historical.
A case we reported on
Sunday who arrived from the USA on 12 July, has been
reclassified as ‘under investigation’ and has been
removed from our confirmed cases tally.
Since 1
January 2021, there have been 109 historical cases, out of a
total of 690 cases.
The seven-day rolling average of
new cases detected at the border is six.

Elected members will be asked to approve the draft
Queenstown Lakes Homes Strategy and Action Plan, and
inclusionary zoning policy options for the District Plan at
the Full Council Meeting on Thursday 29 July 2021.
The
intent of the draft Queenstown Lakes Homes Strategy is to
improve the housing system for residents in the district, by
identifying challenges and setting outcomes, goals and
actions to address housing affordability.

Lakes Mayor Jim Boult said that the Queenstown Lakes was
world-renowned as a place to visit and enjoy, and that many
people moved to the district to attain an unrivalled work

The Emergency Management team is moving into the recovery
phase as a period of more settled weather is predicted
during the rest of the week. While there may be some rain
over the weekend this is not forecast to be of any
significance.
Marlborough Emergency Management
Incident Controller Richard McNamara says during the
recovery agencies will continue to work to assess, repair
and clear the roads to enable access in affected
areas.
“This may take some time but it remains a
priority,” Mr McNamara said.

Figures released to National show, that since March,
Police Officers are continuing to leave the force while gang
numbers explode, National’s Police spokesperson Simeon
Brown says.
“From March to June 2021, Constabulary
Police numbers have dropped from 10,244 to 10,117, a drop of
127, meanwhile over the same period gang numbers have been
increasing at a rate of one new gang member per
day.

legal action against iconic New Zealand wool company,
Bremworth, as consumers increasingly opt for wool carpets
amidst growing awareness of the link between synthetic
carpets and plastic.
As sales of its wool carpets
escalate, Bremworth has been targeted with a letter from
lawyers acting for Godfrey Hirst, owned by US-based Mohawk
Industries which also owns Feltex. Amongst other things,
Godfrey Hirst is demanding Bremworth withdraw a number of
key claims in its marketing campaign that promotes New
Zealand wool, including as a natural, more sustainable
alternative to synthetic carpet fibres made from
