Riverside Boxing Club has received a grant from NZCT of
$20,690 towards buying new uniforms and equipment, as well
as providing a salary for head coach, trainer, and manager
Phil Shatford.
Having produced more than fifty New
Zealand Boxing Champions, Addington s Riverside Boxing Club
is one of the most successful amateur clubs in New Zealand
and continues to encourage young kids who want to give
boxing a go. As Phil Shatford commented, “Riverside Boxing
club started up in my garage in 1999, then moved to the back
of a pub called Harry s on Gloucester. Our club motto is work hard, stay humble and it has shaped many of our kids

Skills Active has released its 2020 annual report,
detailing a year in which its industries showed their true
colours, demonstrating incredible resilience and tenacity in
the face of the huge challenges that Covid-19 threw at us
all.
“Our industries, all of
which depend heavily on face-to-face contact, were some of
the hardest hit by the pandemic restrictions,” says Skills
Active chair Sam Napia.
“However they pulled
together to face a common problem, and it was that unity
that carried us all through, despite the undoubted hardship
and losses that many endured,” Mr Napia says.

Rising case numbers in New South Wales and
people there not isolating has changed public health advice
and means flights back from NSW will not start from midnight
tonight as was intended, COVID-19 Response Minister Chris
Hipkins said.
“Case numbers in Sydney show no sign
of plateauing and NSW has today ramped up restrictions
again. We have responded quickly and moved to act on new
advice to hold off on managed return flights from the state
for three more days,” Chris Hipkins said.
