Risk cannot always be eliminated in the workplace, so if
the worst does happen, having the right safety equipment
will help protect your workers and yourself when WorkSafe
comes knocking.
Safety at work is everyone’s
business and should include a safety equipment list. This
list does not need to be complicated, and can be as simple
as listing personal protective equipment (PPE) inventory or
as complex as providing full workshop safety equipment list.
The purpose of such a list is to ensure that workplaces are
not only as safe as possible for workers, but to also comply

Upper Hutt City Council held its meeting on Tuesday
afternoon to adopt the Long Term Plan 2021 – 2031. The
plan was adopted without changes to Council’s
deliberations that were held on 26 May and follows a
community-wide consultation during March and April that
garnered almost 1,000 submissions three times that of the
previous Long Term Plan. We’re thankful to the community
for sharing their thoughts and feedback and helping us reach
decisions on significant matters.

Helen
Potiki
Helen Potiki has been
appointed as Acting Executive Director of the Abuse in Care
Royal Commission of Inquiry.
Ms Potiki replaces
outgoing Executive Director Mervin Singham who was announced
yesterday as Chief Executive of the newly formed Ministry
for Ethnic Communities.
Ms Potiki joins the Royal
Commission from the Office of Ethnic Communities where she
was the Applied Policy Manager. She has held the roles of
Deputy Chief Executive at the Ministry of Housing and Urban
Development and Acting Chief Executive of the Ministry for
Women.
She has 18 years’ experience in the public
service and she has strong experience working in the area of

Chinese sportswear brand Anta presented Team China s
podium uniform for the Tokyo Olympics, called Champion
Dragon Clothes on June 25 in Beijing. The uniform is
designed by Tim Yip, also known as Ye Jintian, the renowned
art director, visual artist and Oscar winner for best art
design.
According
to Ye, the uniform combines Chinese traditional cultural
icons, beauty and advanced sportswear technologies. The
designer said he hoped to show the beauty of Chinese culture
in the most creative design language to the
world. This is probably the longest time in history
it took to design the Champion Dragon Clothes for Team

Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) will begin
community consultation next week on a proposed model of
representation.
Under the Local Electoral Act 2001,
local authorities are required to review their
representation agreements at least once every six
years.
The review considers a number of things
including how many Councillors are required, geographical
boundaries of wards, names of those wards, identifying
communities of interest, and if community boards should be
established or retained. The role of Mayor is not part of
the review.
