Republicans traditionally support capital punishment in the states in which it is applied. However, some states with a Republican tradition have been rethinking the issue recently, and even proposing laws to abolish it. Hannah Cox, a conservative author for the Foundation for Economic Education, recently wrote an article in which she argues for the abolition of the death penalty.
