Horizon Forbidden West. Developer Guerrilla Games promises to show nearly 15 minutes of gameplay from
Horizon Forbidden West running on PlayStation 5.
Thursday’s livestream will be available on PlayStation’s Twitch and YouTube channels. The new State of Play kicks off (officially) at 5 p.m. EDT/2 p.m. PDT on May 27, and will run approximately 20 minutes. Guerrilla Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment will precede the show with a “uniquely crafted countdown” starting at 12 p.m. EDT/9 a.m. PDT. Yes, that’s a five-hour countdown, so settle in!
Sony and Guerrilla unveiled
Horizon Forbidden West in June 2020, at the PlayStation 5 reveal event. The sequel sends protagonist Aloy to the Pacific coast. The game’s reveal trailer featured footage of Aloy swimming around; the extant towers of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge; and new machines based on animals such as boars, turtles, and woolly mammoths.
Horizon Forbidden West will release for the PS4 and PS5. There is no release date for the game yet. Horizon Forbidden West is a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn.

The Horizon Forbidden West gameplay debut takes place on May 27 at 2pm PDT / 10pm BST / 5pm EDT (or May 28 at 7am AEST), with a uniquely crafted countdown taking place from 9am PDT / 5pm BST / 12pm EDT (or 2am AEST on May 29). You can tune in via Twitch or YouTube.
Sony has confirmed that the 20-minute showcase will debut Horizon Forbidden West gameplay for the first time.
The last State of Play (episode 9) took place on April 29, 2021, with the one prior to that taking place on February 25, 2021 and the one before that taking place on August 6, 2020. While last year, the interim between these showcases was filled with some PS5 specific events, typically we see State of Play taking place every three or four months - and ahead of upcoming big releases. More recently, we ve seen Sony hosting State of Plays more often - likely because it has a few big games in the works right now.

The last time we went to CES, Dell brought along its Concept UFO a gaming PC stuffed into a portable shell with an 8-inch screen and detachable gamepads. Since then, Nintendo Switch sales have continued to skyrocket, and we’ve been teased by projects like the crowdfunded Aya Neo. But now it appears that Valve might really make the portable gaming PC concept happen, with information leaking about a SteamPal device with a controller codenamed Neptune.
