That is the idea behind an $80,000 grant the towns of Maynard and Acton received from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, which provides technical assistance to help create a redevelopment strategy for the area. Powder Mill Road is about 1.5 miles and extends from Waltham Street in Maynard to High Street in Acton. Zoning is haphazard and includes seven zoning districts. Acton’s portion of the study area is zoned as the Powder Mill Zoning District. Maynard’s portion of the study area includes a Business, a Downtown Mixed-Use Overlay, an Industrial, a Single-Residence a General Residence and a Garden Apartment District.
