ATLANTA â In just the first week of early voting more than 1 million Georgians cast ballots in the U.S. Senate runoff, nearing similar numbers seen in the general electionâs record-breaking turnout.Â
And the fate of two tight races may hinge on the tens of thousands of new voters who have registered in Georgia since Nov. 3.
On Jan. 5, 2021, incumbent Republican Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler will face Democratic challengers Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock in contests to decide control of Americaâs federal government, following President-elect Joe Bidenâs win in the Nov. 3 general election.

In the runoff election for Georgiaâs two Senate seats, incumbent insider-trading barons David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler are facing off against Jon Ossoff (former intern to John Lewis and the confounding recipient of his political blessing) and the Rev. The political showdown in Georgia has transfixed the U.S., with control of the Senate hanging in the balance of a couple of upcoming runoff races. But as we’ve already written, the political race has become a religious battle as well, with incumbent GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler taking frequent aim at her oppinet Rev. Raphael Warnock’s religious views. Though both Warnock and Loeffler are Christians, Loeffler has painted Warnock who has served as a senior pastor of Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church for 25 years as a religious radical. Now, a coalition of faith leaders are calling on Loeffler to back off her religious attacks.
