0 4 minutes read On April 12, DeKalb County (East of metro Atlanta) police shot into the home of Matthew Zadok Williams while he was behind closed doors and hiding behind an ottoman. The police left him to bleed to death inside his own home. In the aftermath, a doctor stated that Williams’ life could have been saved had the police administered medical aid.  A neighbor called the police on Monday, April 12 saying a man with a knife had broken into an abandoned home. The police arrived onsite around 4 pm under the impression that Williams was homeless. The family later indicated that Williams owned the home and had lived there for 15 years.

One man in Douglas County, Georgia, died in his car after a tree and power lines fell on his vehicle on Monday morning, according to a report by NBC News. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they discovered the driver was trapped inside the vehicle with power lines and a tree on the vehicle, Douglas County Communications Director Rick Martin said, according to Fox 5 of Atlanta.

Crockett Jr. © Image: Generic Image (Shutterstock) A tornado–kind of like one the one that took Dorothy from her Kansas farm to Oz–touched down in the Atlanta area and severe weather is still threatening some 100 million people from “the southern Plains through the Mid-Atlantic.” According to CNN, “A tornado warning was issued at about 10:30 a.m. and lasted until 11:15 a.m. ET, with about 450,000 people in its potential path, according to the National Weather Service in Atlanta.” While the extent of the storm’s damage isn’t clear, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and others on Twitter sent out photos of tornado destruction showing down trees and building that had suffered damage.

Biden holds rally in Georgia to mark 100 days in office, promotes big plans ahead

MARIETTA, Ga.  President Biden marked the 100th day of his presidency at an outdoor rally Thursday evening in suburban Atlanta, the locale that not only propelled him to the White House last fall, but enabled his administration’s early success. Biden highlighted the doubling of his initial goal of administering 100 million vaccine shots in his first 100 days, and he touted the $1.9-trillion American Rescue Plan he enacted in March that delivered $1,400 direct relief checks to millions of Americans.
